For the past 25 years, Rare Medium Well Done, Inc. has been serving up some of the best film and digital production the State of Michigan has to offer. RMWD provides a broad range of professional production services including broadcast and commercial production, corporate communications, digital creative content and influential storytelling. Sue Witham, Founder, CEO and Executive Producer, is a three-time recipient of the Gold Mobius Award, the highest recognition in the global field of advertising. In the words of Sue, RMWD is “capable of producing an unlimited range of projects from conception to completion.”

RMWD is a female owned and operated company dominating an industry traditionally noted for being a “boys club.” RMWD takes pride in being an award-winning Michigan based company, making its own strides despite distance from the established film strongholds in Los Angeles and New York. The company specializes in helping customers emotionally connect their branding to customers by utilizing their unbeatable team of experts.

RMWD turns out high-quality productions at cost-effective budgets, and is competitive with bids. “We don’t have the overhead of the Chicago, LA and New York companies,” Sue explains. Sue praises the small-scale Michigan film industry’s intimacy and community. “It’s easy to form relationships and to make connections here,” she says. “The crews are comprised of experienced professionals.” Despite its Michigan roots RMWD frequently works out-of-state. They have recently filmed in LA, Nashville, West Virginia, and Washington DC.

Sue believes that extensive collaboration with the client via a creative and streamlined process is the recipe for success. She credits her experiences in law school to her exceptional problem-solving skills. It is important for RMWD to have a firm understanding of the message their clients want to convey before they move forward with the project. RMWD clients own 100% of their footage – a service that is rarely offered by other companies.

Steve Witham works for RMWD as an Emmy Award-winning Director / Director of Photography; other Directors include Michael Ivey, who is an NPR commentator on the show “All Things Considered” and Greg Daniels, who shoots globally. The company employs more than 100 people and has access to 20+ additional directors who have many years of professional experience in storytelling, sports, automotive, food and other disciplines. RMWD has produced a number of television advertisements for clients such as GMC, Ford, Chevrolet, OnStar, Mercy Health Systems, WV Tourism, and Hunt Brothers Pizza – to name only a few. Sue has been highly recognized for producing several spots that landed on the Super Bowl. “It’s been very exciting,” Sue recalls, “Definitely a huge accomplishment for a Michigan Executive Producer.”

After 25 years at RMWD, Sue continues to find herself renewed and inspired by meeting new people, traveling to different states for production, and watching the process of ideas and scripting come to life. “I’m a careful planner with thoughtful ideas,” says Sue. “I’m also calm in the face of a challenge. I can identify a problem and solve it.”

This composure, experience, and inspiration will most definitely guide Sue as RMWD prepares to shoot a full-length feature film in the spring of 2017. In the meantime, Sue plans to maintain her focus on helping her clients to achieve their vision. Dig in!
